Street furniture for a vibrant summer
As part of the “HALL OHHH Kultur 2025” cultural festival, we were able to create an extraordinary piece of street furniture for the city of Schwäbisch Hall that transforms the city center into a lively meeting zone in summer. In collaboration with Katrin Legandt (concept, creative & project management) and the creative collective of Hanneke Huisman (graphics), Martijn Hoogendijk (architecture) and John Van Dorst (concept, creative management), we created a high-quality and long-lasting street furniture concept that was designed as a seasonal highlight for residents and guests and can also be used reliably in Schwäbisch Hall for at least five years after the festival.
The project focused on the practical implementation of versatile seating that enriches the cityscape and invites people to linger. A striking “Hallo” lettering sets a special accent; the characteristic O was designed as an independent element to create a direct link to the city name. In addition, integrated play areas for board games such as mill and chess provide interactive moments in the middle of the urban space.
The cladding for existing stone cubes blends harmoniously into the holistic design and at the same time creates new qualities of stay. Thanks to the high-quality workmanship and sophisticated design, the seasonal street furniture enriches the city center of Schwäbisch Hall every year anew – as a flexible, modern and sustainable element of urban design. In this way, public space is transformed into a place that makes encounters and cultural diversity visible.
