We completely refurbished an outdated property for the opening of the new “Milliways” café bar. From run-down to retro chic.
Milliways
“Café Stella” was once an institution in Stuttgart but its structure was completely outdated and its interior design was stuck in the gloomy 1990s. We completely refurbished the premises for the operators of the future “Milliways”, giving this old building a new, glorious lease of life.
“Never build a bar in the house you live in – the DJ might wake you up – every weekend!”
The first thing that was unusual about this project was the location. One of the people responsible for the project had what was probably the shortest trip to work of all time – because the bar was directly below his apartment. What was mainly uncomfortable during the construction phase, proved to be the guarantee of free DJ gigs at home, once Milliways opened.

Working on existing buildings is said to be tricky but we took up the challenge and our solutions – including a quite unconventional one –cleared virtually every stumbling stone out of the way. The end result was “Milliways” – a real gem – and the third bar for our client in Stuttgart alongside the Marshall Bar and the Biergarten auf der Karlshöhe.
